Welcome to StageSoc, Southampton University Students' Union backstage society. As a society, StageSoc covers the complete range of theatrical backstage crafts from theatre design through to make-up artistry. StageSoc members are responsible for providing technical support for an unprecedented number of productions a year.

StageSoc's main activities involve:

• Providing training in backstage craft for all members
• Providing technical support to the performing arts societies
• Providing technical advice to the PAU
• Organising social events for StageSoc members
• Caring for the shared resources of the performing arts societies

We cater for people interested in all aspects of backstage craft.

Interested in getting involved with StageSoc? Fresher or current student, it doesn't matter, as long as you are a member of the Southampton University Students' Union then you can join StageSoc. As you're here already, come and join the forum (you'll have to register to see all the fun we have) and introduce yourself!

Freshers Information 2009/2010

Like what you've heard so far? Missed us at the bunfight and the welcome meeting? Why not get to know us now: our forum is the best place to introduce yourself, find out about all we do and see what's going on. Alternatively, you can send us an e-mail: stagesoc@soton.ac.uk. Our training sessions are running on Tuesdays for this semester too, so feel free to come a long to one of those and introduce yourself in person!

New Website!

The website really is the hub of the society and is where most things get organised. The forum (come join us now!) contains over sixteen-thousand posts ranging from the really useful to the completely random! The glossary contains a bank of helpful information and the shows database contains a list of almost every show we've done in the past three and a half years.

Training Programme

Our training programme runs throughout the year to allow our members to develop and expand their backstage skills and includes both theoretical and 'hands-on' practical sessions. We cater for all abilities with experience right through to complete newcomers, so don't worry if you've never done anything like this before! Social Events

StageSoc is an incredibly social society. Over the last few years, StageSoc members have been on several theatre trips (most notably to see The Lion King, Avenue Q, Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera in the West End!), bowling, pub quizzes, karaoke (don't worry - the singing is (occasionally) optional), meals out and many evenings in The Hobbit! There is also the annual Christmas meal. This year we went to Basingstoke to see their Christmas show, followed by a meal. If all that isn't enough, there are still the after show parties for all the shows we do!
