Welcome to StageSoc, Southampton University Students' Union backstage society. Stagesoc cover the complete range of theatrical backstage crafts and are responsible for providing complete technical support for SUSU Performing Arts.

It doesn't matter whether you're a fresher of current student, as long as you are a member of the Southampton University Students' Union then you can join StageSoc.

About Us

Stagsoc work hard to provide full backstage craft for SUSU Performing Arts. We are involved in a huge number of productions every year; we exceeded 20 shows last year, each with different requirements and challenges. It isn't all work, when we aren't involved in productions, we have weekly social events making us a friendly and busy society.

The website really is the hub of the society and is where most things get organised, and with a forum containing over twenty-four thousand posts ranging from the really useful to the completely random, if you want to find out about us it really is the place to be!

Stagesoc runs training sessions throughout the year to develop and expand our backstage skills, including theoretical and 'hands-on' practical sessions. All abilities are catered for and the schedule of our training programme is available by following this link.

StageSoc is an incredibly social society. Over the last few years, we have been on numerous theatre trips (most notably to see Billy Elliot, The Lion King, Avenue Q, Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera in the West End!), bowling, pub quizzes, karaoke (don't worry - the singing is (occasionally) optional), meals out and many evenings in The Hobbit! There is also the annual Christmas meal and show trip. If all that isn't enough, there are still the after show parties for all the shows we do!
